Cheats, hints and unlockables to help you get the most from the game.

Cheat: Unlimited Credits (DLC Required)

If you"ve purchased the Supernova or Martial Law DLC packs, you have access to a free Detonator weapon. Go to the Store and buy the weapon for 0 credits. Fire the mines at a nearby wall, then deactivate and retrieve them. DO NOT RELOAD! Sell the mines at the store for credits and sell the free Detonator. Buy it back -- it now has full ammo again so you can repeat this indefinitely!

Cheat: Infinite Nodes, Semi Conductors and Cash

In Chapter 15, the final room contains a bench/store and save point. Backtrack down the corridor. There is a room that you must open with a Power Node, it contains 2 Power Nodes, a Ruby Semiconductor and some random items. Collect them and return to the save point. Save your game and reload it. Return to the locked Node room again and the items will have returned! You can repeat this process indefinitely.

You can also do this at the Node-locked rooms in Chapter 6 and Chapter 7.

Unlockable: Modes

Perform the following actions to unlock additional modes.

Hardcore Difficulty (corresponds to the old Insane difficulty setting) - Clear the campaign on any difficulty to unlock hardcore difficulty. This setting is equivalent to Zealot difficulty, but only allows you to restart from the last save game. To frustrate matters, hardcore difficulty only allows you three saves (for the whole campaign) and cannot be started from a New Game (+) -- you must start fresh from a New Game. Good luck!
New Game + (visible on the menu, but cannot be selected) - Clear the game on any difficulty and you may saved the cleared game data for New Game (+). From there, all of your weapons and items in the store and your inventory are carried over from your previous game. Makes completing Zealot and Hard difficulties much easier!

Unlockable: Respec Ability

At the start of Chapter 7, Isaac may re-spec his weapons, RIG, and stasis module. This ability lets him take out all the power nodes in a piece of equipment and re-assign them elsewhere. Each time you "re-spec" an item, it will cost 5000 CR. While it won"t help you get the trophy/achievement for upgrading all your equipment, it is handy to re-assign (or take back) power nodes from weapons you don"t use anymore.

While this ability sounds doubtful, it can be used to refill Isaac"s life at any workbench. If you re-spec the RIG, any changes to an HP node will reset Isaac"s life to the new maximum. For 5000 credits, a re-spec is cheaper than a large medikit!

Unlockable: Plasma Cutter for Veterans

If you have a save on your hard drive from Dead Space 1 you"ll begin the game with access to the Plasma Cutter from the first game. Your upgrades to the weapon from the previous game will not carry over.

Perform the following actions to unlock these special suits in the store.

Arctic Security Suit - Beat the game on Zealot
Soldier Suit - Beat the game on Hardcore Mode
Hacker Suit - Unlocked if you have a Dead Space: Ignition
Elite Riot Suit - Beat the game, start New Game +
Elite Engineer Suit - Beat the game, start New Game +, schematic is found near the first store.
Elite Vintage Suit (Reduces shop prices) - Beat the game, start New Game +, find schematic in Chapter 6 near the end of the level
Elite Security Suit - Beat the game, start New Game +, find schematic in Chapter 9 after you leave train, other side of the railing
Elite Advanced Suit - Beat the game, start New Game +, find schematic in Chapter 11 at the top of the yellow elevator
Urban Camo Viral Black (Superbowl Steelers colors) - Find and kill someone wearing this online
Urban Camo Viral Yellow (Superbowl Packers colors) - Find and kill someone wearing this online

Unlockable: Handcannon

Beat the game on Hardcore to unlock a red foam hand called the Handcannon. It"s extremely powerful, with infinite ammo, but has no laser sight (not that it matters).

IcarusAloft

Hint: Free Health

You can use the shop and the work bench to get easy health boosts. Each time you don a suit for the first time -- after buying it in the shop -- your health is filled to maximum. This only works the first time you put on each suit, but with the extra downloadable suits you can do this several times throughout the game.

Alternately, once you can purchase the Respec ability (5000 Credits), you can strip the Power Nodes from the Rig and replace them for full health -- this costs less than, say, buying a large health pack.

Hint: Free Credits from ATM Machines (aka "The Fonz")

Go up to the machines that look like ATM"s and melee attack them. Credits will pop out.

Achievement / Trophy Hint: Peng"s Treasure

In Chapter 7, locate the mainframe room where ANTI is. One of the circuit rooms will have breakers that turn blue in addition to being green or red (it"s the left breaker room, if ANTI"s hologram emitters are behind Isaac). Insert the four breakers in that circuit room so they are blue, and the access tunnel leads to the Peng Treasure.

Achievement / Trophy Hint: Lightspeed de Milo

Shortly after entering stage 3 (after the train scene) you enter a couple of shop areas. The second has a blue statue that looks like a fat, blue Astro Boy (so, like Mega Man? --Ed). Shoot the head and arms off to unlock the Trophy/Achievement.
